Environmental Vetting and GHG Rating

RightShip GHG Rating A–E is distinct from Safety Score, inspection age trigger and charterer policies; nomination consequences require a current attributable policy.

Operational Explanation

RightShip GHG Rating uses an A–E scale to compare design efficiency among ships of similar type and size through a speed-corrected methodology. It is not annual operational CII. Safety Score, inspections and customer criteria are separate assessments: the environmental rating alone does not establish commercial acceptance or exclusion.

Regulatory Reference

RightShip — GHG Rating methodology; GHG Rating introduction. Private methodology and contractual requirements; this is not an IMO certificate.

Scope of Application

GHG Rating compares design efficiency with peer ships; inspection validity affects vetting/Safety Score and is not the same product.

Procedure / How to Complete It

  1. Identify which RightShip product/metric is used.
  2. Do not confuse GHG A–E with IMO CII A–E.
  3. Check inspection validity and age trigger separately.
  4. Cite individual charterer policy before a nomination consequence.
  5. Date screenshot, methodology and decision.

Practical Example

After a verified retrofit, the operator may submit updated data and EEXI documentation to RightShip for recalculation. Do not assign an improved rating independently before the provider’s assessment.

What Typically Goes Wrong

What the PSCO Checks

RightShip GHG Rating does not replace applicable IEE, SEEMP or Statements of Compliance. PSC addresses certificates and conditions required by statutory instruments; a commercial rating letter is not itself a statutory deficiency.
