How it will work
Every verified user (with a professional email or certification number) will be able to ask questions, answer and share experiences anonymously or under their own name. The most useful answers will be flagged by the community itself, and the most validated content may flow into the Mistake Library or the Maritime Wiki.
Participation rules (draft)
- No information identifying a specific ship, Company or individuals without explicit consent
- Professional and respectful tone, even in technical disagreement
- Shared experiences never replace the judgment of a qualified professional or the official regulatory text
- Reports of inappropriate content handled by a human moderator, not only an automated one
Illustrative example 1 (not a real discussion)
Question: "During an intermediate survey, the surveyor requested a practical test of the general alarm in addition to the documentary check: is this common practice?"
Answer: "Yes, many Classification Societies require it in addition to the documentary check, especially after recent changes to the system. Checking the most recent test schedule before the survey helps avoid surprises."
Illustrative example 2 (not a real discussion)
Question: "Our usual port of call doesn't yet have methanol bunkering: how are you handling refuelling for the new dual-fuel newbuildings?"
Answer: "We're diverting to a port with an active licence for the first year of operation, planning extra time margin for case-by-case authorisation coordination. The network of authorised ports is growing but is still limited."
This is a static preview. The real functionality requires activating user accounts, moderation and a dynamic publishing system, not yet present in this Beta version.
